First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WinCo Foods.
Cashier
My interview experience was terrible. I was kept waiting for more than 45 minutes even after I had completed the questionnaire. The interviewer called my name, led me to an office, then just stared at his clipboard without looking up. He didn't give me any chance to speak. He read questions very slowly, like a robot, pointing at each word, which was strange because he was young, probably not even thirty. He seemed to really dislike himself, his job, and me, for no clear reason. It felt like management doesn't care about their employees at all.
- What would you do if a customer forgot eggs while you were checking them out?
Cashier
I put in my application online and about two weeks later, I got a call for an interview scheduled for the very next day. When I arrived, I went to customer service and they gave me a visitor pass and pointed me toward the break room. I had to fill out a questionnaire there about how I'd handle two different scenarios and also about my skills. My interviewer was a bit late, so I had to wait around 15 minutes past the scheduled time. The interview itself was pretty straightforward. We went over a short paper and he mentioned that the position was part-time. He also said he had more interviews lined up for that day and the following day, and he would be in touch.
- How would you respond if you witnessed someone shoplifting donuts?
Cashier
I applied online for Cart Clerk, and it took two weeks. They interview when they need people. They called me to ask if I was still interested and about the job, then scheduled an interview for the next week. I went in and they gave me a paper to fill out before the interview. Then they called me to the back where two people interviewed me. It was all common questions; just have a soul and you'll be fine. I got a call the next morning saying they loved me so much they needed me as a cashier, which wasn't even available.
- On a busy day, if there were no carts and you were bringing them to the front, but a customer without a cart needed help with bags, what would you do?
- What was the most demanding job you've had?
