I had a 30-minute initial phone interview with a staff recruiter that was pretty easy. A coordinator set it up. The recruiter said I was moving on during the interview, but then they totally ghosted me. It's not uncommon these days with employers, but it feels pretty classless. When I sent a polite follow-up email, the coordinator didn't reply either, so the ghosting was definitely on purpose.

The hiring process was pretty fast. It was weird though, I applied for an Executive Assistant role but the office administrator started asking me questions about an Office Manager position, which is her job. She took notes on my answers for the EA role but then switched to asking about the Office Manager role and stopped writing anything down. This made me suspicious. I got the vibe she didn't want to offer me the role, which is fine. When I asked about the next steps, she said I "had to want it." At the end, when she was walking me out, I had to stress that I was looking for an Executive Assistant or upper office management role for at least a year because she seemed dismissive. Nobody would go through a stressful 3-step interview process and then meet with 3 people for an hour if they didn't want the job. It felt insensitive given the current job market. The partner and associate were nice. She seemed nice too, but her responses and attitude made it clear I wouldn't get the job. I work in upper management and interview people myself, and I would never approach it like that.

The interview was with a small practice group, which made the process quick and straightforward. Note that the corporate group has smaller practice groups that have their own cost centers, so each practice group is like a mini firm. You don't get to float across the entire corporate department. So you must choose your practice group wisely.

I applied for a Corporate Paralegal position. Wilson Sonsini reached out and scheduled interviews. The initial interview process was fine. Two weeks after the initial interviews, I was informed that I didn't get the position but they wanted to consider me for another role. I didn't hear back for three weeks until they said the hiring manager wanted to meet with me. I set aside time for another in-person interview for the new position. The interviewer, who I believe was the hiring manager, did not seem interested in my qualifications or me as a candidate. She was abrupt, borderline rude, and the interview lasted less than 20 minutes. I never heard back from them again.
