Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at William Hill.
Assistant Manager
It was a friendly chat, the staff were welcoming and smiling, creating a nice atmosphere. It felt like a family vibe in the shop, and the interviewer was clearly friends with the staff. Overall, it was a positive experience with a few easy questions.
- What contributions would you make to our company?
Deputy Manager
On July 1st, I got a call to set up a phone interview for July 6th. After that went well, I had a face-to-face interview in Wembley on July 7th with two people. I was told on July 18th that I wasn't successful, with no feedback. The interview itself was supposed to start at 12:15, and I got there at 11:55, was offered coffee and a seat. I waited, and at 13:00 another candidate arrived and was interviewed quickly. I waited until 13:30, then called head office to reschedule. They told me to wait, and then called the shop. A lady finally called me in at 13:40, almost two hours after I arrived. The interview was in three parts, and the interviewers were pretty chill. First, they asked general questions about me. Then, they talked about the role and its perks. Finally, they asked me competency-based questions about how I'd fit.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What makes you want to join William Hill?
- Describe a time you successfully motivated your team.
Management
I applied on a Friday and got a call the next Monday for an interview. I met with two members of the management team. They only asked me a couple of questions, and I spent most of the time asking them questions. They said I would hear back in a couple of weeks, but it's been longer than that and I haven't heard anything. It seems like they don't care about getting back to people.
- How would you go about improving morale?
