Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at White & Case.
Trainee Solicitor
After submitting my online application, I had a phone interview with someone from the early careers HR team. This was before the assessment centre, and it lasted about 30 minutes. They asked really structured questions.
- Describe a situation where you encountered a challenge.
Trainee Solicitor
It was a pretty relaxed interview process, which involved straightforward questions. An associate and the graduate recruitment team conducted it. The associate focused on more technical questions, while the graduate recruitment team asked about competencies and motivations. After the interview, there was a written exercise and a group assessment.
- What motivated you to pursue a career in law?
- What specifically about W&c interests you?
- Could you share some of your relevant experiences?
Trainee Solicitor
I had a 30-minute chat with two partners. We talked about interesting parts of my CV and cover letter, then moved on to general commercial awareness, and my knowledge and excitement for the legal field. One partner was a bit of a 'bad cop' and was critical of some of my answers.
- Can you explain what currency exchange rates are?
