Account Executive
The first interaction was with a recruiter based in California. Then, I was connected with the hiring manager, who is supposedly based in Germany and fluent in German. However, when I finally spoke to the hiring manager, it turned out he was based in India and had no knowledge of German. The interview, scheduled for 30 minutes, stretched to an hour. He mentioned he oversees the DACH region from India, which seemed odd considering his lack of German language skills. He asked a lot of questions about the sales process and seemed more interested in gathering information about German sales intelligence rather than assessing my suitability for an on-the-ground role. This was reinforced when he mentioned having two people in India managing the DACH region who don't speak German. He still seems to not understand the market. I also brought up the reported 15% sales headcount reduction, which he dismissed as only being in North America, but his nervousness suggested otherwise.
- Could you detail the specific sales process for Germany?
- What is your Go-To-Market strategy for Germany?
- Can you provide an example of how you would phrase an outreach email?

Round 1 – Hiring Manager (Skills & Experience): This round is to check if you can do the job. The manager will review your sales background, past deals, quota performance, deal complexity, and how you qualify, forecast, and handle objections. They are mostly assessing your selling approach, communication, and ownership mindset. Round 2 – Discovery & Demo: This tests how you sell in real situations. You are expected to ask smart discovery questions, understand the customer’s pain, and run a tailored demo that focuses on value and outcomes rather than features. They will evaluate your consultative selling skills and ability to connect product value to business impact. Round 3 – VP / Cultural Fit: This round is about attitude and long-term fit. The VP looks for ownership, maturity, learning mindset, and how you handle pressure or failure. They also want to see how motivated you are about joining Whatfix and if your values align with the company culture. Round 4 – HR / Compensation: This is the closure stage. HR discusses salary, variable pay, joining date, notice period, and benefits. This is where final alignment happens and your compensation is negotiated.
- Can you tell me about your biggest deal and how you managed to close it?
- Could you describe your biggest deal and the process you used to close it?
Account Executive
The interview process was really straightforward and had 3 rounds. The first was a 30-minute call with a sales recruiter to see if I was a good fit for the role. Then, I had a 45-minute discussion with the hiring manager about the current role and expectations, which included a 1-minute elevator pitch. The final round was with the Sales Head, which was a scenario-based demo and a 10-minute performance feedback session.
- Can you provide a 1-minute elevator pitch for a relevant persona about your product?
- How would you handle objections during the demo?
