Product Manager
The recruitment team here has absolutely no idea what they are doing. For a Product Manager role, you're asked to do multiple rounds: a deep dive with hiring manager, a take-home case study, a presentation of the case study, and then additional 1-2+ panel interviews with cross-functional stakeholders. There was radio silence for over a month, and the recruiters even asked for a copy of the case study to 'have on file.' Major red flag here as they likely seem to be trying to get free work from the current job market of applicants. Got an automated rejection after a month, not even a single human response within that time to follow-ups or expectations of decision timeline. Absolutely unprofessional and they do NOT care about the applicants who dedicated hours of preparation, research, and interview time. Do NOT apply for a position at Wex. They pay BELOW market rate and seemingly do NOT care about their potential talent.
- Can you share a story about a project you were instrumental in launching within a specific domain?
Product Manager
It was a three stage process. First, a phone interview. Then, an in person interview with the manager. Lastly, an in person interview with the larger team. Most of the questions were around past product management experience, success, failures, and some around suggestions for WEX regarding strategy. There were a few folks that asked harder questions, but most were pretty basic. Make sure you have some honest stories about past experience, and think about how these apply to WEX.
- What ideas do you have for monetizing the payments space at the point of sale stations, and how would you test those ideas?
- How would you go about validating a strategy for increased monetization in the payments space at point of sale stations?
Product Manager
So the interview process was pretty standard. The first round was a phone interview that acted as a screening. The second round is coming up, and it seems like it will be with other product managers. The first phone interview was pretty relaxed, though; they just asked me about myself and my motivations for wanting to be a PM.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your reasons for pursuing a career as a Product Manager?
