Behavioral Presentation

The interview process was structured and straightforward. The first interview was mostly a get-to-know-you session about the company, its direction, and my background, goals, and aspirations. They were very upfront, not trying to oversell the job or make it sound easy. They stressed that this career is challenging but rewarding with hard work. Later interviews delved into how I would build a business, focusing on a marketing plan rather than a pushy sales approach to friends and family. They highlighted working with associations, centers of influence, and professional connections for long-term business building. This differed from other firms that push you to use personal contacts. They also discussed income potential, retention rates, and their aim to set people up for long-term success, not just short-term employment. The overall process instilled confidence that they are invested in your success and won't hire if they can't support that.

I first chatted with a current advisor I knew through a friend about the company overall and their career. Then, I connected with a recruiter for more details. After that, there was an initial call, followed by another meeting to discuss the role and my goals more deeply. Later, I met with a mentor advisor to talk about my aspirations and the company's direction. Speaking with everyone was a great experience; they were all knowledgeable and easy to talk to, making the interview process really pleasant. Even though we concluded my career goals were leading me elsewhere for now, everyone was supportive and understanding. WestPac Wealth genuinely believes in their wealth management approach, and I never felt pressured. They focus on ensuring you're a good fit and setting you up for success. I'd definitely recommend them if you're interested in wealth management and advising. If I were to enter this industry, they'd be my first call.

Three main interviews. The first was a casual chat with a pompous manager who spent most of the hour talking about the firm and himself, highlighting their superiority and dodging questions that might cast the firm negatively. The second interview focused on client acquisition, which was actually quite insightful into their methods for attracting clients. They used bright colors and catchy charts to explain their four-step process. The third interview was about compensation, where the fast-talking manager briefly touched upon the payment structure and timing, while also emphasizing the potential for significant earnings after a long career. Finally, there was an unscheduled extra meeting to sign a Pre-Contract, which included conditions that must be met before any payment is received. Be aware that they reserve the right to interpret the ambiguous terms in their favor.

Behavioral

Had a phone interview to get to know WestPac, which was mostly behavioral and informational. Then met with the recruiter and a leading advisor. It was a medium-grade interview with harder behavioral questions. I really liked the CEO and the atmosphere he creates. The employees are hard-working and driven to deliver on their services and the process to get there. Passionate, honest, and straightforward. I liked the company and the culture. If you are looking to be a financial advisor this is the place to be!
