Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Westpac New Zealand.
Customer Service Representative
The first step was an online cultural assessment, sent via email, that I could do at my own pace. It presented various scenarios with multiple-choice answers to gauge my reactions. Following that, I had a video interview where I had to record my answers to three questions, with a limit of two takes per question.
- In your opinion, what traits are essential for a customer service representative?
Customer Service Representative
It was just a casual conversation where they asked common questions, nothing too complicated. The interviewers were really friendly, and it was a great experience overall. I'm completely satisfied with how it went.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about a challenging situation you managed.
- What would a typical day in this position involve?
Customer Service Representative
We started off in a group setting with about 8 of us at a recruitment agency's office. We were given a team task where we had to build something out of provided materials that could balance an egg for at least 30 seconds. Then, I had a one-on-one role-play with someone from the Westpac team. They gave me a script to read from to check my 'phone voice' and how I'd handle questions about products. Finally, a senior team member asked us some questions.
- Can you tell me about your general experience with customer service?
- What are your strategies for handling a challenging customer?
- Share an instance where you had to persuade someone.
