Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Westpac Group.
Bank Teller
They had this video interview thing, which was pretty chill 'cause there was no set time, so I could just do it whenever. It had like three questions, and they were pretty straightforward if you'd actually prepped for it.
- Tell me about a time you embodied one of Westpac's values, which we covered in the last step.
- How would you deal with a challenging customer?
- What makes you a good candidate for a bank teller role?
Bank Teller
We did an online questionnaire first, then an in-person interview at the bank. They also contacted all my references and ran late for the interview because one person was managing the St. George Bank down the road.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience in customer service roles?
Financial Analyst
The graduate program application process included an online assessment with numerical, logical, and behavioral sections. This was followed by a digital interview. The interview covered general and behavioral questions focusing on Westpac's core values. Sample questions included: What does excellent customer service mean to you? Describe a situation where you encountered a problem and how you resolved it. What motivates your interest in this role? Why did you choose to apply to Westpac? What are your thoughts on the RBA's recent decision to lower the cash rate amidst rising inflation?
- Can you share an instance where you prioritized team needs over a personal objective?
