Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Westpac Group.
Associate
It was a straightforward interview process focused on team culture fit. All your answers should highlight how you assess and manage risk, how you approach change, and how you effectively manage business stakeholders.
- Could you describe your approach to managing risk in your current position?
Senior Associate
The interview process had three rounds. The first was a casual intro, kind of a chat. The second and third rounds had more questions about how I'd fit in and some technical ones too. The people interviewing me were higher up as we went along.
- What drew you to Westpac?
Associate
I applied through the company's internal recruiting portal, so I skipped the aptitude and personality tests. The process had three rounds: a phone interview, then a face-to-face with my direct manager, and finally another face-to-face with a state or regional manager. My start date got pushed back because of requirements from my previous role and my manager not approving the transition. However, the managers in the new team were really accommodating and willing to accept my conditions to get me on board. HR and my new manager kept in touch regularly throughout the hiring process.
- Can you discuss important recent events, news, or information regarding market and economics?
