First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WestJet.
Customer Service Associate
The first step is a HireVue interview where you'll answer questions on camera. You get one minute to prep before you answer. Expect typical behavioral questions about your communication style, past work, and how you'd handle different situations. They'll also ask about your availability and if you're punctual.
- How does the typical CSA schedule fit with when you can work?
- Can you tell me how your availability matches up with the standard CSA schedule?
Customer Service Agent
The entire interview process lasted roughly a month. After applying, I heard back in about 7 days for the first step, which was a Hirevue interview. In this, you record yourself answering questions that pop up. You get a minute to prep, but once you start recording, you can't go back and only get one shot per question. It's kind of a bummer because you can't review your answers. Then, about another week later, I got invited to the second and third interviews, which were on the same day. This part was a mix of a group interview and a 1-on-1 with a recruiter. It was pretty intense, with around 40 applicants in my session. We had to introduce ourselves with an interesting fact, then answer random questions on screen within 60 seconds. The staff were all really friendly, which helped ease the nerves. While the group stuff was happening, I was pulled aside for the 1-on-1 with the recruiter, where they asked questions to gauge my fit for the job and some behavioral questions. I found out from them two business days later, so the whole thing moved pretty fast.
- Tell us something interesting about yourself.
- Where would you fly to on WestJet and why?
- Explain customer service as if to an alien.
Customer Service Agent
Applied for the YEG location. Had a HireView interview that was a bit nerve-racking but okay. It had 4 questions, plus reading an announcement and a question about the 24/7 schedule to see if I was okay with the company's operations. Got invited to a group interview about a week after the HireView. The employees made it comfortable, and I could relax. They mentioned we'd hear back in a week, but I got an offer in 48 hours! I completed the Post Offer Employment Test and background check, then received my official offer letter with a start date three weeks out.
