The whole thing took about 3 weeks. It began with a quick 20-minute chat with an HR recruiter to go over my background, current job, and why I wanted this role. Then, I had a 45-minute Zoom interview with the hiring manager, who wanted to know about my past projects and how I manage remote teams. The next step was a panel with two team leads and a stakeholder. They hit me with behavioral questions and a mini case study about handling scope creep in a project involving different departments. No technical tests or presentations, which was nice. The process felt pretty professional and straightforward, even though getting the times to line up was a bit of a hassle with the time zones. I got the offer about a week after the panel.

It was a 4 round interview process. The first two rounds were with the hiring manager and were about 1 hour each, focusing mainly on current role and program management. The third round involved a case study where I had to submit my solution as a PPT, and then the interview was about my solution. It was a bit strange because some interviewers didn't show up initially, and I ended up interviewing with the same person for the second round. The fourth round was with HR. I got an email from HR about my salary slip and other details for the offer letter. However, there was no response after that, and despite several follow-ups, they said they were interviewing more candidates. So, the whole experience was bad because the recruiter was unsure about moving forward and backed out of the offer letter. HR's response was very poor, and I only got a response after multiple follow-ups.

The interview process really didn't respect candidates' time. First, I had two phone screens. Then, they asked me to prep a presentation about how I'd handle my first 100 days. After I sent it over, they told me I wouldn't actually be presenting it, but they wanted to read it beforehand. The onsite interview was pretty disappointing. I was led into a room with four people who didn't bother introducing themselves or explaining their roles. The lack of diversity and awareness was immediately obvious and impacted the interview. One person basically skimmed my presentation, which outlined a strategy of learning, relationship-building, and gaining influence before making big changes, and then commented, 'you don't say in here that you would do any work. You do realize that you would have to do actual work if you came here, right? We wouldn't let you just sit around and talk.' This was incredibly offensive, especially as a woman of color, given the stereotypes associated with us. It was shocking that they assumed someone with almost 20 years of experience, great references, and a track record of success wouldn't do their job. Another interviewer said I'd be a tough hire because I'd need to learn financial services from scratch and deal with compliance, completely ignoring my resume and my own introduction that detailed my extensive financial services background. A third interviewer questioned my ability to work globally, despite my past global experience and language skills. Overall, several shocking moments made it a really unfortunate experience and I got the impression it would be hard for someone like me to succeed there. I asked about next steps, and they said I'd need to schedule more time to come in for another meeting with a different interviewer, which felt like a big ask given how much time candidates have to dedicate. Since the experience was negative, I'd already received another offer, and had another offer pending, I wasn't interested anymore. The recruiter later left a voicemail saying I wasn't selected anyway.
