First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Western Union.
Transaction Risk Investigator
The interview process included a phone call, an online interview, and a final interview. These steps can differ based on location, but overall, it was a positive experience for everyone who applied for this role at Western Union in Egypt.
- What makes you interested in applying for this position
Investigator
It was a standard interview process, though not strictly following the STAR method. It was very dependent on the manager interviewing. The interviews were in half-hour slots and there was only one, which was nice. I got an offer within 48 hours and had the weekend to consider it. The HR representative was helpful and attentive.

Fraud Prevention Specialist
I was offered a position to work as a multilingual Fraud Prevention Specialist for their Costa Rica call center. I got a call from an interviewer who stated he was located in Mexico. After that I went to their offices, where I was interviewed by my future boss and the interview went well. He explained to me the benefits and the salary amount. A couple days later I get a call from the same Mexican representative. He tells me that some transportation benefits will not be made available to me due to my shift hours and no extra salary compensates that. Then he adds that he will be sending me the proposal in written and that the salary on it will be lower than its real amount, the missing part will be paid "extra-officially" which is illegal. Then they told me about their background check process using HireRight, a company that was found guilty by a federal court in the US of violating the Federal Credit Report Act in 2012. I simply told the Mexican man I found something better and hung up. If they allow such practices this means that this is a rotten corporation, had I accepted their offer only God knows the things they would have done to me as an employee. If they were willing to commit fraud with regards to the Costa Rican labor laws during the very interview process and if they use the services of a crooked background check company to screen prospective employees I do not want to make part of this. These are red flags and I prefer to avoid this corporation.
