First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Westat.
Data Collector
I applied for a data analyst role, but they contacted me about a data collector position instead. They had me watch a video on their site that showed the main duties of the Data Collector job. Then, I had a phone interview where they told me I'd be doing cold calling to find people for surveys and also collecting biological samples. This was very different from the job I applied for, and I was not happy with Westat's clear bait and switch approach.
- Would you be okay with collecting urine samples?
Data Collector
They set up an over the phone interview for the work from home positions. They asked few questions pertaining to availability and your experience. You will explain your background and skills. You will discuss the nature of the work and if you are able to handle the duties.
- What hours are within your availability?
Data Collector
First, there's a phone interview where they ask for your references, and they actually check them. Then, you have a Zoom interview. After that, you wait for an email saying you got the job. If you get the job, you then go do your fingerprints and background check.
- Have you ever done Field Data Collecting before?
