First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at West Monroe.
Manager
The interview process was pretty chaotic and frankly confusing. I ended up going through 5 rounds with them. It started with a recruiter call, then a 1:1 with who I think was my potential supervisor. After that, there were 6 back-to-back interviews with people at various levels, including a managing director. They used typical case study questions and role-playing to gauge my skills and past work. I got really positive feedback throughout. The kicker was they then asked me to create and present a proposal for an actual RFP, which I did at my own cost. After I presented to the managing director and other staff who had flown in, I heard nothing for two weeks. Finally, the recruiter called late on a Friday to say they weren't proceeding because the 'pipeline didn't justify the investment,' which confirmed my initial gut feeling about this place. It took them 3 months to get to this point.
- Standard consulting interview questions regarding behavior, role-playing, and situational assessments.
- The unusual part was being asked to create and deliver a full, in-person presentation with slides for a real RFP, at my own expense.
Manager
So first, there was a phone screen with the recruiter, then another phone screen with the hiring manager. After that, I had a full day of on-site interviews with different team members. They really wanted to check if I had the right qualifications and if I had any consulting background. The on-site part included a case study I had to do right there, plus a written assignment to submit afterwards. The recruiter was super helpful and kept me in the loop the whole time. From what I saw, it seems like a really good place to work.
- They want to get to know you as a person to see if you'll fit in with the team.
Senior Manager
So this recruiter reached out, who didn't seem to know much about the interview process. We had two phone screens, first with an architect, then with the hiring manager. After that, I was told I needed to prepare for a full loop: four more interviews, including a case study. I put in a lot of hours getting ready. In the end, I didn't get an offer, which is fine, but the only feedback was that I lacked BD experience while another candidate had it. It's baffling because my resume should show that, or the hiring manager should have picked up on it during our chat. No one even asked me about it in the interviews. After all the prep time, I feel I deserved better feedback than that.
- Can you describe a situation where you dealt with a challenging customer?
