Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Welocalize.
Specialist
The process was quite long but generally okay. It included two tests and two interviews. The only issue was I had to follow up myself to get my rejection. Recruiters, please don't ghost applicants!
- Tell me about a time you overcame a challenge.
Language Specialist
The whole process took about 3 months. During the first call, I discussed my expectations, and they agreed to proceed. I passed all the written tests and interview levels. Things were going well until my final conversation with HR. She stated they couldn't meet my expectations, which I found surprising since I had shared them at the beginning. A week later, she contacted me again with a revised offer: a 10% raise and a 50,000 bonus payable after one year of employment. I was shocked that an international company would offer such terms for a role in Gurugram requiring relocation from Bengaluru. I declined the offer, telling her not to call me again. If a company can't afford a candidate, they shouldn't waste their time.
- Are you willing to accept a 10% salary increase and a 50,000 bonus, which you will receive after completing one year with the company?
Localization Specialist
So first you fill out this questionnaire thingy after applying. Then, a quick phone call to chat about your experience with languages. After that, they send a translation test over email. If they like your test, they'll set up an onsite for you.
- Can you describe your connection to the target language and for how long?
- Have you had any localization experience before?
