First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wellington Management.

The interview process went really well. I had several interviews all in one day with different people. I received an offer through the TAP program, so it might be different for other jobs.

The interview process started with an HR Screen, then there was a 30 minute technical screen. After that, I had a panel interview with five leaders from different technology departments. The final round was with the hiring manager and two of their colleagues. It took about two weeks to get the offer after the panel interview.
- Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you dealt with it.
- Describe a situation where you took the initiative on a project.

This company's interview process is really long, I've never seen anything like it. It has at least 3 rounds, and each round has like 4-6 people interviewing you for an hour each, taking up a whole day. The actual interviews weren't too hard though. The whole hiring thing took a month and a half, which is super inefficient. It's like the hiring manager doesn't want to make the decision alone, so they have you talk to people not just on their team, but from all over the company. Even after all that, the base salary they offer isn't great, though they promise big bonuses later. Wellington seems to think they can get good people for cheap. If you get an offer, I'd definitely push hard for a better base salary because the IT department is a cost center and their budgets are always shrinking due to the money management business being so unstable. There's no real guarantee your salary will go up as you'd hope, you'll get a promotion even if you're doing great work, or if those promised bonuses will actually materialize. You're better off starting strong than believing empty promises from HR and the hiring manager. Honestly, IT here is going downhill because of bad management, outdated ways of solving problems, not respecting people, and the long hours and high stress. It's a 'toxic' environment in IT. If you calculate your actual hourly pay, it's probably below market rate.
- Can you walk me through a particular experience you've listed on your resume, using specific examples?
- HR asked about my current compensation, both base and bonus.
- HR also inquired about other companies I'm currently in talks with and how far along those processes are.
