First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wellhub.
Senior Software Engineer
It was a structured and technical process. First, a call with the recruiting team to make sure we were aligned on the role, seniority, pay, and to talk about my career. Then, a 2-hour technical interview that had live coding, like LeetCode medium problems, and a system design part where we talked about scalability, architecture choices, and how to design APIs. Finally, I met with a tech lead or engineering director for the area. We went deeper into my past experiences, my technical outlook, and my understanding of distributed systems, scalability, databases, caching, observability, and also how I handle leadership and solve conflicts.
- Generally, questions covered application observability and health, like metrics and monitoring, to microservices architecture, discussing concepts like idempotency and service granularity. They also explored quality management under delivery pressure, like dealing with technical debt, documentations. Besides approaching incident management: production support, post-mortems, etc.
Technical Lead
First, there was a chat with HR, followed by a technical interview where professional experiences were discussed, and then a system design interview. It was a simple, abstract whiteboard session, with limited time to elaborate or justify technical choices.
- Could you tell me about your general experience?
- Can you discuss your past technical experiences?
- How would you approach system design?
Software Engineer
The selection process for the frontend position was very good overall with quick responses. First, there was an HR interview that was relaxed and informal, discussing experiences and expectations. The second stage involved a technical interview with other developers, covering JavaScript and React (as it was a frontend-focused role), concluding with a code review. The third stage was with technical leaders, talking about experiences and discussing development practices and daily work. Afterward, if moving forward, they gather internally to provide feedback to the candidate.
- Do you know the fundamentals of JavaScript and React?
- What are your thoughts on good coding practices and code reviews?
- Can you answer questions about CSS and accessibility?
