Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Weil Gotshal.
Intern
The interview process involved a recruiter phone call followed by a Zoom interview. It was a pretty straightforward process with fewer rounds than typically seen for internships. It seems HR handles most of the intern hiring, so you likely won't get to interact with the team or the hiring manager.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Intern
I got the interview offer before OCI, then had an in-person interview with 6 people from different levels. Got the offer 2 weeks later. The questions were pretty standard and direct -- they mostly asked about my resume's hobbies section. I interviewed with the PE/MA team.
- Could you elaborate on your hobbies mentioned in your resume?
- What is your motivation for applying to Weil?
- Why are you interested in the SV office specifically?
Summer Vacation Scheme
Had a pre-recorded video interview. You get 30 seconds to prep and 90 seconds to record your answer. There were two questions that were actually two parts each, so be ready for that. No competency questions asked.
- Why this firm and why you?
- Why law?
- Regarding practice areas, what interests you?
