Behavioral Technical Presentation

The entire process took me about 2 months. It started with a recruiter reaching out on LinkedIn. I ended up talking to 7 people formally. I visited the Toronto office twice. One of those visits was a 3-day in-office trial where I had to create and present a deck, for which they paid me with a gift card. It's a great company with an amazing culture and super friendly people. The interview process was long and stressful, mainly due to its length, not the difficulty. They seem to do interviewing right. However, they need to identify the correct talent profile sooner. I felt like I was going to get an offer, but after a 2-month process, the recruiter told me they were looking for someone with a different skill set. I had mentioned I wasn't super technical and lacked extensive experience in a critical area early on, but they continued with the process. I guess they thought I could ramp up quickly, but that wasn't the case. They need to determine required skill sets within the first few interviews. Also, they asked for my picture and bio for their newsletter just before my 3-day trial. I thought it was odd since I didn't have the job yet, but I took it as a good sign. They sent it out to all employees before my trial. Regrettably, since I didn't get the job, it's humiliating that hundreds of people know me and know I didn't get the offer. It's surprisingly common for Product Managers to reach the 3-day trial and not get an offer, which shouldn't be the case. Putting candidate pics/bios in the newsletter puts them in an awkward position.

Behavioral Technical

I applied online a while back and got a call from the recruiter, but they were super late. A week after, I found out the job was on hold 'cause the hiring manager was traveling. Fast forward a few months, and the role's back! I had an onsite interview with four people, and they were all really nice and sharp. The recruiter was too swamped to even see me out. After a week of no word, the recruiter emailed about a 3-day work trial for the next week. I asked for a debrief call to get feedback and pointed out I hadn't even talked to the hiring manager yet. He was late again for our call. Later that day, I had a video call with the hiring manager that seemed to go well, but then it went dead silent. Honestly, the whole hiring process felt all over the place, and the recruiter's follow-up was pretty weak.

Recruiter called first, qualified me, then 2 phone screens, followed by 5 interviews (in person and over phone). Then 3 days onsite work and a presentation. They mentioned they are looking for someone with deeper technical skills, especially for API integrations.
