The interview process was lovely. Each conversation gave me a great insight into the different people functions at WealthSimple and I loved that there was a focus on D&I in the process. The interview process involved a phone screen, a Hiring Manager interview, a D&I interview, a Recruitment team interview, and an Engineering Hiring Manager Interview.

Wealthsimple really disappointed me throughout the interview process. I am an experienced recruiter and spoke to Jon initially. It was a poorly conducted prescreen with a really awkward flow - he harped on the same questions over and over and over again. It became a bit awkward for me and I almost felt like he didn’t trust what I was saying. Somehow I moved forward and met with the rest of the team - to be fair, everyone was lovely at this stage. I was ghosted afterwards which I found to be extremely disrespectful. When people take hours out of their day the least you can do is get back to them. Really disappointing experience for such a reputable brand. You are never to big of a brand to provide a positive candidate experience.

I got referred by someone and then spoke with the manager of the team first. That conversation was laid-back and went super well. After that, I talked to a recruiter, and that chat was unexpectedly stiff. I could tell right away they weren't feeling me. It's always a bit weird when a recruiter interviews another recruiter, but there were no icebreakers, and it seemed totally different from the company's usual vibe.
