Had a great initial chat, and they interviewed me for two teams. The recruiter gave me a specific date and time for a follow-up, but then there was just silence. Even an escalation got no reply. I wouldn't suggest interviewing with them.

I went through two interviews, a recruiter screen and a hiring manager interview. While nothing felt off to me, I did think the hiring manager could have been better trained on how to conduct interviews and ask questions to assess fit. The questions were really basic, and in this competitive market, deeper questions would help determine fit better. I asked for feedback after hearing the result but never got a response. It would have been helpful to know what the issue was so I could tell if it would be worth applying to Wealthsimple again in the future.

The whole process was pretty standard, with about 6 rounds. It kicked off with a recruiter screening me to chat about my background and the role. Then, I had a 1:1 behavioural chat with the Product Manager (Pro tip: use the STAR method for these). We also did an app critique where we picked an app we both knew. Following that was a portfolio review with the Product Manager and an Engineer, where I walked through 2-3 of my projects. Next up was a 90-minute whiteboard exercise with the Product Manager, Engineering Manager, and Head of Operations; it was chill, collaborative, and no homework needed. The final rounds were culture fit interviews with the CEO of Wealthsimple Europe and the Director of Design in Toronto. It took about 6 weeks in total. Even though interviewing remotely can be tricky, the team made it a really nice experience with quick responses and helpfulness. Great experience overall!
