Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wealthsimple.
Operations
I got an email from HR to set up an interview. The email didn't mention who would interview me until the invite showed up. The hiring manager wasn't ready for our interview; she was hesitant and it took a bit to get her questions figured out, which led to us cutting each other off. She really needs to improve her interviewing skills. Also, our interview was supposed to be 30 minutes, but she was 5 minutes late, only asked me questions for 10 minutes, and then we were done. It was extremely unprofessional.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a situation where you utilized data, giving a specific instance.
Business Operations
I had an hour-long intro call, followed by another hour-long secondary call. They mentioned there would be 4 more steps. I was told I'd hear back about the next steps but it's been almost 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything. It feels like the talent team is disorganized. Based on this initial experience, I wouldn't move forward with them even if they offered me the job.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you describe a project you've worked on?
- How have you collaborated with different teams?
Operations
The interview process was great! It started with an initial informal conversation. Following that, about a week later, there was a panel of interviews all on the same day. The interviews were all conversational, everyone asked fair and thoughtful questions. I felt at ease and like I could answer the questions honestly and openly.
- Can you discuss inclusion in the workplace and share some of your experiences?
