The first question they asked me was why I wanted to join the company. Before the interview, they had sent over some materials about the company, which I looked over carefully. I talked about my interest in the product and how it connects to my previous work. Then, they asked if that was the only reason I was applying for the job. I was upfront and said that I was recently laid off, which is also why I am looking for a new job right now. The way they asked and followed up felt sudden and kind of discouraging. While I think being honest is important, this made me wonder about the interview's tone and if the company would be supportive of people when they are going through tough times.

This was one of the more time-consuming interview processes I've been through, but I had a decent experience. I really enjoyed the conversations I had and everyone I met was kind and personable. The reason I rated this experience as negative is because I received 0 feedback from the 6+ people I met with. I made it very far in the process (had an HR screening call, hiring manager call, take-home assignment, presentation, and a final round of interviews with various execs) and to my understanding, I was one of the final two candidates. Given how far along I got in the process, it was disappointing that I was given 0 insight into why I wasn't moving forward. Even after requesting feedback twice, I was only met with "we want someone with a different profile", which is confusing, given that's something they could have easily determined much earlier on in the interview process. It's especially hypocritical given a week after this experience, I received an email from Wealthfront requesting comprehensive feedback on my interview experience…

This hiring process felt like a waste of time because I don't think they're actually looking to hire anyone. It's like the other two people who interviewed for this job, I was shocked by how much work they wanted for the take-home assignment. It felt like they wanted free work, not just a test of my skills. As a candidate, you can't really argue with them. I spent about 10 hours on it, putting together a 20-page presentation with a full strategy, but they rejected me without even letting me present or talk about it. Here's the thing: if three of us have said this, they've probably done it to more people. At the very least, it shows terrible judgment and a total disrespect for candidates' time and effort. I thought it was outrageous to: 1) give such a sketchy take-home assignment, and 2) keep bringing people in for it without moving any of them forward. It seems like this is how they always do things. If you're thinking about applying here, for this job or any other, I wouldn't recommend it.

The whole interview process was really well organized. They were attentive and covered my expenses for the on-site visit. Couldn't have asked for a better experience, the people were super kind and passionate. The offices were great too. They sent over the offer pretty quickly after everything was finalized.
