First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Waystar.
Security Operations Manager
The hiring process started off with some ghosting which was a red flag. Then I got an email about a different position than the one I applied for, which was another red flag. I decided to proceed and set up an interview with a Director, accommodating their schedule. However, during the scheduled Zoom interview, the interviewer was a no-show for about 15 minutes. I sent an email expressing my disappointment and withdrawing my application due to this unprofessionalism. The interviewer responded by lying about their presence, which was clearly not true. This whole experience was highly unprofessional, and I'd advise extreme caution and keeping records, as they might try to manipulate the situation. It makes you wonder what working there would be like if this is how they handle interviews. While it was a negative experience, it was certainly eye-opening.
- The interviewer did not ask any questions because they did not show up for the interview.
Trade Shows Director
I applied online and then had a phone screen with a recruiter. The call itself was smooth and informative. However, I was ultimately ghosted with absolutely no communication following the call. It’s very unprofessional given that I invested my time and energy into the application and the call. Rejection is perfectly fine, but ghosting is not, especially since most ATS systems can send auto rejections. Waystar, please do better.
- Could you share your years of experience in managing trade show activations?
Account Executive
I applied online and a recruiter reached out in about a week. First, there was a phone screen, then a video interview with a sales manager where they asked mainly behavioral questions about my past, how I deal with problems, and teamwork. After that, I had to do a quick sales pitch about something I picked. It felt pretty laid back, not like a typical sales pitch. The people interviewing me were nice and professional. Things moved along well and they kept me in the loop about what to expect. I liked how upfront they were and that I could easily reach the interviewers.

Marketing Operations Coordinator
The interview process at Waystar was surprisingly disorganized and frustrating. It started as a simple interview but ended up having six unexpected steps, which included random assessments and back-to-back interviews without any prior notice or clear communication. The full process, including the time and effort required, was never outlined. After completing three rounds, an assistant informed me about a live assessment with a potential manager, which was never mentioned before. This was the last straw, and I decided to withdraw from the process. It seemed like transparency and respect for candidates' time were not important. The recruiter, Cameron, didn't mention that it would be a six-step interview process. Even though I am currently an Operations Coordinator for a top brand, they required six interviews for a job that didn't even match the listed requirements. If this is how they treat potential employees, I can only imagine the internal chaos. I'm glad I didn't proceed with Waystar; this experience was very telling.
- After three interviews, I was sent a 40-minute assessment without being told there would be a total of six interview steps.
