First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wawanesa Insurance.
Customer Service Representative
It was a virtual interview with normal behavioral and situational questions, plus a role play with three scenarios. Some tech questions were asked to confirm I met the requirements. The interviewer seemed annoyed with me from the start, so I'm not sure I had a chance. When I asked a clarifying question to better answer, she responded with "...sure." Also, asking about gaps in employment is unprofessional and none of anyone's business.
- What is your motivation for entering the insurance industry?
- What prompted your job changes?
- Could you describe your ideal work setting?
Customer Service Representative
Applied and then got an email to set up a phone interview 2 days out, no test. The phone interview happened, took like 20 mins. It wasn't behavioral, just general questions about my resume, my background, and job duties at Wawanesa. They said I'd hear back in about 24 hours if I made it to the next stage. Got an email a few hours later for an in-person interview, scheduled for the next Monday. The in-person interview was a panel with two HR people. They asked some general questions, then left a phone in the room. I had to study a role-play scenario for 5 minutes and then they called the phone, and we did 2 role-play scenarios (I think I nailed them but they didn't seem impressed). After that, they asked behavioral questions, not really STAR format, which kinda stumped me, but I did my best. The interviewer Samantha was nice, but the guy seemed unimpressed with everything and looked like he hated his job. They mentioned they were interviewing all week and I'd hear back if I got an offer. I heard back a week later that I didn't get the job.
- Out of these three skills, which one do you think you'd be the least proficient in?

I applied online and then, about three days later, I got an email about the initial interview. The recruiter let me know the mobile number they'd use to call me. They called the same day I replied to her email, and we set up a panel interview with two managers for the next week. It's been a week since that panel interview, and I haven't heard back yet. I'm wondering if I should call the number they gave me or just email them for an update.
- Tell me about your experience with customer interactions.
- How do you handle situations that are not based on your experience or resume?
- What are your thoughts on situational and behavioral questions?
