The whole thing took about 10 weeks and 6 interviews. I heard later there was a hiring freeze which slowed it down. First was an HR Screen, then Hiring Manager Interview, followed by a Peer Role Play. Next was a Case/Presentation to the Hiring Manager and a Peer, then a VP Sales Interview, and finally a CEO Interview.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview experience at Watershed was great and really showed me what kind of company they are. The interviews really honed in on the specific skills needed for the job, and the team made sure they did their due diligence to hire the right person. It was obvious they cared a lot about hiring the right person, and they also made sure the candidate experience was good. The recruiter told me what each person would focus on, and each interviewer made sure to leave time for me to ask them about the challenges the company is facing and why Watershed is a great place to work.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview process had 3 rounds: a screener with the recruiter, a behavioral interview with the hiring manager, and a 'performance task'. The performance task involved creating and then role-playing a client presentation based on an anonymized data set. It was a bit unusual that only one person was present for the performance task, given the effort involved. I think I was dinged for a skill that's actually one of my strengths from 4+ years of experience. The company has an interesting product and mission, and some team members seem great, but the overall interview felt like typical SF tech startup culture.
