Other times, it's a two-day affair involving 45-minute talks and meetings with various faculty members, plus some meals (lunches/dinners) with people from one or more labs.

I applied online and then had a Skype call, followed by an on-site interview. After the on-site, I got an offer pretty quickly and accepted it. It all went well, and I mostly talked with the supervisor I'd be working for, not so much HR.
