The hiring process kicked off with a Hirevue screening, followed by a conversation with a recruiter. The Hirevue asked about my salary expectations, but the recruiter apparently didn't even look at it. They'll move you forward even if your salary ideas are nowhere near each other and will offer you a really low amount. Plus, the recruiter was unprofessional and didn't seem to know much about the job. They mentioned there's potential to grow out of this admin role into a software engineer, which is a pretty odd path for an admin job, making me think either the recruiter or the company doesn't really value administrative work.

I got lucky and was put in touch with a recruiter at WBD through other channels. The interview process was pretty standard: an initial screening with HR, a Zoom interview with the hiring managers, and then a second in-person interview with the same people at the office. I tend to over-prepare, even listening to quarterly sales calls. Ultimately, I was competing with an internal candidate, who was chosen due to their existing knowledge of the company's processes.

The interview had three parts: first, a call with someone from talent acquisition, then an online meeting, and finally an in-person meeting. They were all really nice, but after the in-person one, they said I'd hear back by the end of the week. Two weeks went by with no word, so I reached out for some feedback. A week after that, I got a generic rejection email. It felt like my time wasn't valued and the friendly attitude was just for when they were considering me.
