First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Warby Parker.
Store Leader
I applied and the Talent Acquisition Manager reached out to me within about 2 weeks. My conversation with her was really just about my background with her asking specifics along the way. She said I was an early applicant, that she would like to pass me along to the next step, and that there could be a delay from there since this was a new store slated to open in 3-4 months, but she PROMISED she would not ghost me. She provided me with company values and advised me to frame all my responses within the STAR method. The second interview was with the DM and was supposed to be with the Area Manager I would report directly into. At the start of this interview, a different Area Manager joined because the other one was out sick. They asked pretty standard questions, advising me that they have to ask everyone the same questions for legality reasons. However, at one point the DM jumped in and asked an off the cuff question on how I prefer receiving feedback. When I finished my answer, they said "well I guess we don't need to ask the last 2 questions, we have what we need." When the interview was wrapping, they seemed genuinely interested in my - going so far as to ask if I was open to other locations. From there, it was a waiting game as I had been advised by the TA Manager. I did, however, send her a follow up 1 week after my interview with DM/AM - just to reiterate my interest. Another week passed by, and another one, and another... and I'm sure you get my point. Fast forward to a month and half later and I get the standard rejection notice. Not really sure if I fell through the cracks, they weren't interested, or something else. In my opinion, the process lacked professionalism based on them verbally admitting to skipping questions and for not following up sooner. It made me feel like they weren't 100% interested but were keeping me on the backburner in the event a better candidate never came along.
- Can you share an instance where you helped a team member grow?

Store Manager
Get ready for a few interviews, you really need to know the company inside out. They care a lot about how you lead a team and build a good team environment, and they'll back you up on that.
- What draws you to Warby Parker?
Store Manager
The recruiting team… Amazing! Likely 4 or 5 interviews before an offer. There were week-long gaps before any communication. I was head hunted twice, with no offer. The job post opened 3 times in one year. Take a chance on external hires if the role opens 3 times in a year!
- Can you describe how you inspire your team to meet sales targets?
- What key performance indicators do you believe are essential for effectively running a store?
