First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Walmart Global Tech.
Product Manager
After an initial prescreening for a Product Manager role at Walmart Global Tech, I went through a panel interview with the hiring managers, which felt like it went really well. I used the STAR method to share my experiences, covering technical skills, leadership, and relevant job answers. However, after that, I was left with no communication for two months. Even after following up multiple times, I didn't get any updates or feedback and was eventually rejected. It seemed like the decision wasn't based on my qualifications but more on my ethnicity and nationality, as they seemed to prefer a U.S. candidate for this managerial position and weren't looking to sponsor international candidates. This was a really disappointing experience that made me feel frustrated and hurt, highlighting the organization's lack of inclusivity. Their lack of transparency and unwelcoming attitude during the process was tough, especially with no real feedback after such a long wait.
- Can you describe some situations using the STAR methodology that demonstrate your technical skills, leadership abilities, and relevant job experience?
Product Manager
I went through 4 interviews, each lasting 45 minutes and covering different areas. The first focused on teamwork and collaboration, the second on metrics and data analysis, the third on product sense, and the fourth on general leadership skills. After that, I had a final 30-minute meeting with the director, which involved product sense and a market sizing case study. It was pretty standard for product roles.

Product Manager
So I was reached out by Ben from Walmart Global Tech about a Staff PM role on LinkedIn, said they were interested in me applying. I asked for more details about the specific role and product area, but he never got back to me. I ended up applying for two jobs anyway and let him know. Then Megan, another recruiter, emailed me to move forward with an initial interview. She didn't say which role, how to prep, what skills they wanted, or how I fit. I asked again for details about the role and team focus, and she just sent me back the same generic job listing. The senior PM doing the first interview didn't even know which role I was interviewing for, which shows how bad their internal communication is. Weirdly, they said I passed and was moving to the final round, now calling it 'senior level'. Setting up the final interviews was a mess, took over a month to get four separate people scheduled. One person didn't even show up, so we had to reschedule, another two-week delay. During these final interviews, they still couldn't clarify the role or responsibilities, making it super hard to show how I could help. After the final interviews, I sent a bunch of follow-up emails that were ignored. Two weeks later, I got a dumb automated rejection email with zero explanation. The whole recruiting process at Walmart Global Tech was disorganized, unprofessional, and just plain slow. They were totally unhelpful and not transparent, making it a terrible experience. I definitely wouldn't recommend dealing with their recruiting team for PM roles; it was a waste of my time.
