Waldorf Astoria Interview Questions
& Process

It was a lengthy interview process with 3 interviews and no offer, which is just how life is. They were professional and courteous, but I wish they would provide an explanation for the decision. There were 3 phone interviews and 1 in-person interview. I feel that more in-person interviews would help me connect more and them to get to know me better.

The interview process was quite long, all condensed into a single day. I went through approximately 4 interviews and then had a meeting with the hotel manager. It was a group interview, and they were eliminating candidates quickly. After completing all the interviews, I was asked to return later in the day for a final interview around 3 PM. Typically, the last interview involves meeting with Mr. Bowman, and it's a one-on-one meeting, as I've experienced before. An HR representative then walked me out and informed me that I would receive an email for a background check, which I needed to complete. She congratulated me, and then I headed home.

I applied online and got invited to an interview fair. The interviews were supposed to start at 1pm, and I got there early to be the first one in line. But, I ended up waiting in the HR waiting room for another 30 minutes because they couldn't find the hiring manager. Apparently, she was still at lunch when the interviews were supposed to start. Then, during the interview, she seemed to rush through her questions and didn't really let me ask much about the job. I thought it was super unprofessional and it made me not want to work for Waldorf Astoria Chicago.

I applied online and then called them. They called me back for a first interview. I wasn't called back for a second interview and never got to do a sample massage, despite my 18 years of experience and great work with all sorts of tourists. I'd previously worked at two similar spas for years. Then I got a form letter saying I wouldn't be considered, ever. The only negative thing they mentioned that might have led to my rejection was that I used to work at a 4-star hotel, and they are a 5-star hotel. They really emphasized the HUGE difference between 4 and 5-star hotels!!!
