First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at WakeMed Health and Hospitals.
Physician Assistant
First I had a phone interview with HR, and then about a week or two later, I went to the hospital for an in-person meeting with the other APPs and doctors. I waited almost a month for the decision, so be ready for a potentially long wait for feedback. Otherwise, it was a pretty standard interview process.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Program Assistant
I met with the team I applied to work with and interviewed one-on-one with a few of them. Overall, I felt it went well. The hiring manager said they would reach out to me the following week, but I never heard from him or HR (it has now been over a month). I did send a follow up email which was not answered. Overall a negative experience and feel like my time was wasted.

Phlebotomy Technician
the interview was great, I treated it more like a conversation instead of an interview, you won't just be interviewing with one person but 3-5 people depending. They will want you to preform order of draw and explain and show how blood cultures work. They will show you the lab and maybe take you on the floor to see how it works there but overall if you prepare and come with confidence and treat it more like a conversation you won't have a problem! good luck!
- Can you demonstrate the order of draw?
Nursing Assistant
I submitted my application online via the WakeMed website. About 3 days later, a recruiter called to arrange an interview with the Nurse Manager. I requested it be scheduled for the following Monday. Since the Nurse Manager was unavailable, I was interviewed by a Nurse Supervisor instead. The in-person interview lasted about 2 hours and included a tour of the unit and a brief shadowing session with a staff member in a similar role. The supervisor gave me a clear understanding of what to expect from HR and the potential offer process. A week after the interview, an HR representative contacted me with a verbal job offer and details about the onboarding steps.
