First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Waddell & Reed.
Technical Support Engineer
The interviewer was punctual, introduced themselves, and discussed the company's success. They were friendly, polite, and patient, actively listening. They also asked me to discuss my background.
- What prompted your departure from your prior role?
Payment Processing
the interview process was really relaxed. The hiring supervisor was very understanding of my needs and flexible. I told them that I was pregnant during the interview and they did not let the persuade their decision on hiring me.
- What is your experience?
- Why should we hire you?
Marketing Coordinator
I first chatted with the Administrator and a Financial Advisor about the role and what they're looking for. After that, I met with the Branch Manager, who told me to feel free to talk openly about what I need for this job and to ask any questions without feeling nervous.
- Can you describe the responsibilities of this role?
- What are the expectations of a Marketing Coordinator from the Financial Advisor's perspective?
- What are your personal requirements and needs for this position?
Financial Advisor
I went through a four-interview process. It started with a career preview meeting with the district manager who gave a really informative overview of being a financial advisor, sharing good insights on what the career entails, what it takes to succeed, and what the role would be like. The second interview was a one-on-one with the district manager where they asked me questions like why I'd be successful, my strategy for building a client base, and more. In the third interview, the district manager spent most of the time discussing the career path, including licensing, training, and marketing – it was well-thought-out and presented. The final interview was all about compensation, which they explained very thoroughly. I also got to chat with another advisor for 15 minutes to ask about their career path, which was a nice bonus. I didn't move forward because of personal family reasons, but I might explore this opportunity again in the future and would definitely apply here again. I would recommend this company to the right person who wants to be a financial advisor.
- What are one or two characteristics that make you stand out above everyone else?
