First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wacker.
Director of Maintenance
I had a phone interview with one person. Then I was invited for an in-person interview. I was sent a list of people I would be interviewing with. They seemed to have a good spread of positions across the company. When I arrived, it turned out only the person from the phone interview and one other person could make it. Their only interview tactic seemed to be to tear down my experience and work history.
- Given my 15+ years of direct industry experience and a few years in consulting, why would you hire a consultant?
Business Development Manager
So I applied and got a call from HR super fast, like within 1-2 days, and that first chat was really upbeat. Then, it took like 3-4 weeks to get the next interview with the hiring manager. This one was a full hour, and honestly, it felt like they were just reading questions robotically, no emotion at all. It was weird, not a real conversation. The final stage is a panel interview, and get this, they take over 6 weeks to set that up, and there's zero communication in between. The whole thing drags on for about 3 months. I was really keen on the job because it sounded awesome, but the timeline was just not working out.
- Could you share how you navigate challenging customer interactions and influence stakeholders in the development process, providing concrete examples without revealing sensitive information?
Laboratory Manager
I applied online. HR emailed me for a 30 minute phone screen. After HR, I had a one hour call interview with the hiring manager. A week later, I had an onsite interview with the whole team, managers and junior employees, around 7-8 people. They said they would schedule another session with two managers who were absent. I waited two weeks and followed up with HR about next steps. It's been months and I haven't heard back. The whole process was a waste of time, with basic interviews and unprofessional HR.
- Can you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
Process Development Engineer
The interview for the Silanes Process Development Engineer position went really well with the hiring manager and the team. They asked a lot about my personality and soft skills, and also some technical questions. We had a good laugh during the interview, and they even took me out to lunch afterward. Overall, I had a very positive feeling about it. But then, 6 days later, on a Saturday afternoon, I got an AUTOMATED rejection email from HR. I thought this was really rude and disrespectful, especially after I put so much time and effort into preparing and traveling for an on-site interview (I drove 2.5 hours to get there). The least the hiring team could have done was send a personalized email. So, I'd suggest staying away from the Silanes Process Development Engineer role and their HR team because they treat candidates very rudely.
- Can you discuss your project management abilities?
- What's your approach to safety aspects?
- Describe how you deal with individuals you don't get along with.
