Account Executive
I met with the Territory Manager. After I asked them some questions, I was hired in about 20 minutes. It seems like they'll hire anyone who is capable and has prior experience. Sales at W.B. involves talking to people who usually don't want to talk to you and persuading them that switching to W.B. Mason is a better option than their current provider. They can't really tell how good you are at this job until you're actually doing it. I'd suggest asking about a ride-along during the interview if it's not brought up. This job requires handing out catalogs and flyers and often working late, past 5 pm daily. Make sure you have questions prepared in a padfolio and focus on selling yourself.
- Can you tell me what you know regarding our company?
- What prompted your interest in this position?
- Could you elaborate on your sales background?
Account Executive
The main takeaway is that this is a fantastic place to get experience in the traditional, tough way of cold calling. You'll be doing face-to-face marketing, going door-to-door, floor-to-floor, treating every business as a potential customer. You'll encounter all sorts of different people daily while out meeting customers. One of the successful reps who came through WB actually cold-called one of the offices with their resume and asked to speak directly with the branch manager about a sales position. They're seeking friendly, hardworking individuals ready to establish new business. Be authentic but maintain professionalism. WB has a baseball-like culture and sees itself as a blue-collar sales organization. Expect to work hard and do whatever is necessary, including sales, deliveries, and handling account receivables if clients don't pay, as well as furniture project management. Essentially, you'll be building your own client base and managing the required processing. It's a great environment to learn the fundamentals of traditional cold calling.
- Are you prepared to put in the effort?
- How comfortable are you with cold calling?
- Describe your approach to interacting with diverse individuals.
Account Executive
The interview process was unprofessional and a complete waste of time. It started with an initial phone interview with HR. Then, I had to waste an entire day on a ride-along. I wasn't informed beforehand that it would be an 8-hour commitment, and there was no lunch allowance provided. Following the ride-along, I interviewed with the manager, where basic questions were asked. I was never contacted after that day. It was a total waste of time. The person I did the ride-along with was friendly, but otherwise, I'd be embarrassed to be associated with the company.
- Can you describe your experience in sales?
- Could you discuss your previous employment history?
- What motivates you to pursue this particular position?
