First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vyaire Medical.
Human Resources Generalist
It was a phone interview only. I decided not to continue with further interviews, so I can't comment on those. The phone interview had basic questions, covering my resume and typical behavioral questions. I also got to ask my own questions. A few days later, they told me they wanted to move me forward and scheduled an interview without checking my availability. I replied immediately that I was no longer interested. It's normal to ask about availability before scheduling, especially when I wasn't even free at the proposed time. This was off-putting and felt disrespectful, considering most people have jobs they don't want to risk while job searching.
- Can you go over your resume with me?
- Tell me about yourself.
Principal Engineer
I was led to a conference room by the hiring manager who I'd already spoken with on the phone. He said I'd be meeting with three Engineering Directors first, and he'd be last. The interviews were really nice, everyone was friendly and easy to talk to. It felt more like a casual chat about work. I thought it went well, but I didn't get the job. They let me know quickly that they'd found someone, and when I asked, they said the person they hired had a bit more experience, which I believe since I was looking to step up. I'm still in touch with the hiring manager because I see Vyaire as a place where I could build a career.
- Could you tell me about yourself and your career path?
- Can you discuss your experience with the technical aspects of this role?
Marketing
I did an online application, then the recruiter called me and sent some digital questionnaires. After that, there were a bunch of phone calls and in-person interviews. It was okay, but took a long time. The worst part was getting a generic rejection email from HR. A phone call or even a personalized email would have been better and more professional. It was bad for the brand.
- Can you share an example of a time when you...?
- Walk me through how you collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- How do you handle and resolve conflicts?
Accountant
Started with a 30 minute phone interview, after which I was told interview went great and they wanted me to start. They just wanted me to come in for a 30 minute meet and greet to see the offices and make sure it would be a place I could see myself long term. Then all of a sudden I was told they hired someone internal, when they are a new company that has no-one internal. Sounds like discrimination to me.
- Tell me about your prior experience and how it relates to our needs.
