I applied online and got an email the same day to set up an interview. I had a Teams call with the GM and the other Assistant Store Manager, and it went well. The GM asked when I could start if I was offered the job. That same day, I got an email for a second interview with another GM in their district and set that up. I did the second interview two days later, also on Teams, and thought that went well too. Two days after the second interview, I got a rejection email. I asked for feedback because I thought I did great and the job market is tough. The response was generic, saying they went with an internal promotion that better fit the team's culture and direction. This annoyed me because I'm on hiring boards and the job is still posted weeks later. I'd prefer to know the real reason I wasn't chosen instead of being lied to. Glad I didn't end up working there.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process lasted about 2-3 months, pretty much the same as what others experienced. Initially, the recruiter was very responsive and made many promises. They scheduled multiple interviews, about one per week, even though some could have been handled via email. Everything seemed really positive throughout. I didn't get any negative feedback, but then I was just ghosted. Never heard back from the team or the recruiter. I eventually found out the position was closed through LinkedIn.

I applied through the Vuori careers website. Then, I got an email for an intro with the Assistant Store Manager. After I answered their questions, they invited me for an onsite interview with the 2nd Assistant Store Manager. The last interview was a phone call with the General Store Manager.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I found a job description that surprisingly matched my resume perfectly in terms of skills and experience, which is rare. After getting an interview request, I spent hours researching the company to prepare for the initial HR call. That conversation went well, with the HR rep seemingly impressed by my detailed answers. A few days later, I was invited to schedule an interview with the hiring manager. I was also prepared for this video interview, bringing documents and work examples to highlight my qualifications. The hiring manager seemed friendly and said the interview went "very well," even discussing next steps. We even connected personally over a shared hobby. However, after the weekend, I got an email from the HR recruiter saying they decided to proceed with other candidates. I now suspect their hiring is not based on skills or experience but on other factors, possibly nepotism or personal connections, because with my 20+ years in IT and perfect resume match, I should have at least reached the panel interview stage if skills were the main criteria.

Given my years of experience and having a reference, why was I ghosted after applying for this position, and shouldn't there be basic courtesy to inform me if the position was filled or if someone else was chosen?
