Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Vulcan Materials.
Sales Representative
The interview process was positive but stretched out over a long time. It seemed like they put a lot of thought into evaluating candidates. It was low pressure but the questions were well-thought-out. They let me explain my thinking and be reflective, and encouraged me to take my time. The in-person interviews were all at restaurants, which was unexpected. I didn't get to eat much during those. I'm sure part of the process was to see if I was someone they could control.
- Be ready to discuss how you would best deal with a customer.
Sales Representative
The hiring process was really straightforward. I interviewed with a few sales managers and an HR person. The vibe was nice and not too intense. I really liked the company and want to work there. They said they prefer internal people, so I didn't get the job, but they mentioned future opportunities and being interested in talking more.

First, I had a quick phone call. It was mainly to cover my interest in Vulcan Materials and what they could offer me. The interview lasted about 10-15 minutes. After that, my info was sent to management for a face-to-face interview later on.
