The interview process with VTS was quite dysfunctional. It began with a phone screen, then a video interview, and finally another video interview. I had to chase them for updates before both video calls and again after the last one. After the final interview, they offered me the position, but the base salary was $15k lower than what we initially discussed, and the start date was much sooner than I preferred. I asked to think about the offer over the weekend, but I never received it in writing, even though they sent a calendar invite for Monday to discuss it. They never sent any written offer details, benefits, or compensation. During the Monday call, they explained they might have mixed me up with someone else and that they couldn't meet my requested changes, asking "what did I think". I understand fast-paced environments, but this felt unprofessional and manipulative. When I declined because I never got the offer in writing and asked how to give feedback, they said they'd send something, but nothing ever came.

I applied online and the whole thing took about 3 weeks. First, there was a 30-minute phone screen with the recruiter. Then, a 30-minute video call with the hiring manager. Finally, a panel interview over Zoom, which was actually four 30-minute back-to-back calls with different team members. It started off pretty smoothly, and they were good about communicating until after the final panel interviews. They said I'd hear back in a week. But then it got really unprofessional. Two days after my last interviews, the recruiter scheduled a quick call to discuss feedback. They didn't show up, which was weird since we'd been emailing back and forth like 5 minutes before. The recruiter finally called the week after that, after I chased them for an update. They said they needed more time to interview other people. I followed up again two weeks later, and got the same response. A day after that, the recruiter emailed asking for my availability for a call, and then ghosted me after I gave it to them. To top it off, the recruiter posted the job on LinkedIn the week after, advertising the open role to my network. I get that recruiters are busy, but this level of unprofessionalism isn't cool. People put a lot of time into these processes, especially at the end. A simple rejection email would've been better than all this weird, unresponsive communication. The interviews themselves were nice, though. The team knew their stuff, and I enjoyed talking to them.

I got an email to schedule the first round, which was an initial call. The interviewer didn't mention in the email that my compensation expectations were way higher than what they could offer (they could only do 100k base plus 15k stock), but they did bring it up at the beginning of the call. The HR person gave some okay info about the company, but about half of it I could have found easily online. The interviewer didn't seem to know the position very well.
