Interpreter
The interview was online and included a test of medical terminology knowledge and an English proficiency assessment. Then, on a different day, there was a 20-minute consecutive interpretation test between two languages, simulating role-play scenarios in medical and government service settings.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What interpretation qualifications do you have?
- Can you share your experience in interpretation?
Interpreter
The interview process was quite long and exhausting. It started with a brief initial interview. After that, I was given an assessment that involved explaining medical terms. Later, I had to listen to and repeat various scenarios in English.
- Have you worked as a medical interpreter before?
Interpreter
It was a standard interview. They tested my knowledge of medical terms, had me do some practice calls, and checked my language skills, just like you'd expect for a medical interpreter role. There was also a week-long onboarding to go over medical stuff and anatomy.
- Tell me about your favorite type of interpretation call.
- Describe the most challenging call you've encountered.
