Applied online and a few days later I was asked to come in for an interview. I had my interview, found out I got the job, and then it took 6-8 weeks for my starting date. There were issues with my reference check due to the voyage office, but I wasn't the only one having trouble. I always had to chase head office about them. After the 6-8 weeks of waiting for my start date, I finally started work.

I talked to a senior and service manager. They asked me about myself and some situation questions. We had a relaxed chat. They explained the job role thoroughly and in detail, and introduced themselves.

I had a pretty informal chat with the home manager. She told me about the home, its values, and generally the kind of people we'd be supporting. She asked me a bunch of questions to see if I was the right kind of person for the job. She was really upfront about the tough parts, but by the end, I felt confident I'd get good training and support to help with my natural skills for this kind of work. I got offered the job right then.
