First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Voya Financial.

So, first we had this group thing where they explained the job. Then, there were three interviews with the managers. The first was with the branch manager. The second was with a mentor or manager. The third was with the same mentor/manager, and we had to present a homework project about market analysis. The last interview was with the owner and your mentor/manager. They told us that to move to the next stage, you had to pass each stage.
- Could you share an accomplishment you're particularly proud of?

It started with a group info session called Career Preview. Then there was a First Interview with the Office Manager, followed by a 2nd interview with boss #1, and finally, a 3rd Interview with boss #2. They really want to know if you can survive for a few months without any pay while also spending thousands of dollars of your own money. They go into a lot of detail about compensation, but they don't explain much about what the job actually involves during the hiring process.
- Can you financially sustain yourself for 3-4 months with no income?

You apply online and get a call in about a week for a job preview meeting. If you like what you hear, you can schedule an actual interview. The whole process, from application to offer, can take up to 3 weeks. This role is 100% commission-based, but you get $600 per week for the first 8 weeks. During that time, you need to pass state tests, bring in at least 5 accounts, and generate $4,000 in revenue. You'll have a mentor for 3 years and share commissions with them on a 6-4 split (in your favor). The company takes between 10% and 50% of your sales. They say they don't want you to rely on friends and family for accounts, but it's hard to see how recent grads would have other connections with substantial funds for plans and savings. On the plus side, people are nice, there are no required yearly sales targets, and the office is pleasant.
- Do you have good interpersonal skills?
