Senior Software Engineer
So vouch's process is a recruiter call, a manager zoom call, a coding challenge, and then a 4 hour onsite. The manager call, the code screen, and the coding part of the final round were pretty standard, and the people running them were nice and smart. But the other interviews were a mess. The product person for the onsite product round was late and seemed to be calling from his desk with background noise and echo. He seemed new to interviewing, unsure of what to do next. The architecture review interviewer was also late because of a production issue, making the round rushed. The engineering director seemed tired and asked irrelevant questions about leading teams and agile ceremonies, even though my job description didn't mention management experience.
- Can you discuss a product you were involved with that didn't perform well commercially?
- What's your experience with building and leading teams?
- How do you typically get ready for a team's agile planning meeting?
Software Engineer
The interview process itself was quite smooth. Everyone was really nice and personable. My main issue here was that during my first interview with them we discussed salary expectations and I told them what I was expecting, to which they said Okay we can do that. 8 interview rounds later they make me an offer 30k below what we initially discussed. Dishonest strategy and a waste of my time.
- What motivates you to want to work here?
Software Engineer
So I started with a quick call with a recruiter, then I chatted with the hiring manager. After that, there was a technical screen where we talked about design choices with some engineers. The final round was an on-site, which was virtual because of covid, lasting about 4-5 hours. Then I had one last chat with a founder. Overall, it was a good experience, no weird questions, just a real effort to see my skills, background, and interests. Pretty straightforward process.
- Can you design a data-ingestion pipeline for streaming data?
