Marketing Coordinator
I got a cold call and they asked me some questions over the phone, then they asked me to come in for an interview. I went to their office for a quick 30-minute interview with a manager. The manager explained that the job was basically standing in a big box store like Home Depot selling services like DirectTV and AT&T. I wasn't impressed because the ad posting and initial phone conversation weren't transparent about the position. They do mention it's a direct marketing position, but calling it a 'marketing coordinator' when it's exclusively sales is a red flag. If you're into sales, this might be a good fit. But if you're a recent grad looking to learn about strategy, branding, CRM, search, or other marketing areas, this probably isn't it and you should keep looking. I decided it wasn't for me and turned down a second interview.
- Are you available to work on Saturdays and Sundays?
Account Manager
The interview was smooth and the interviewer was friendly and direct. There wasn't a phone screen, but there were multiple in-person interviews. I appreciated that the interviewer was straightforward and had experience within the company, allowing them to share insights from their career progression. Overall, it was a good experience.
- Could you share an area where you believe you could develop further?
Marketing Associate
I saw the job posting on ZipRecruiter and they reached out via email. This is a boutique marketing company that does direct-to-consumer sales at places like Costco and Home Depot. They market and advertise products directly. They call themselves a marketing and advertising agency, but they are essentially just salespeople.
- What was one thing that attracted you to this position?
Marketing Specialist
The interview was very professionally done, and the interviewer was a delight to talk to. After some basic questions, she explained the position in detail. It focused on marketing in-store promotions, which is not an ideal fit for me. I was called back for a second interview/site visit, but declined.
- What personal skills could you bring to our team?
