Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Voodoo.
Financial Controller
First, there was a phone call with Talent Acquisition, followed by a 30-minute interview with them. Then, a case test was given, including a case study and an Excel test. Finally, there was a second interview with the department heads. Everything went well until the last interview, where one of the interviewers was disrespectful, interrupting me and not letting me finish my thoughts. This person seemed rushed, and at times was on their phone, which felt disrespectful given the time I took to prepare. They mentioned needing someone operational immediately with very high expectations. I later learned about the company culture and their 'American-style' management through former employees.

Financial Controller
The interview process had a first test, then an HR interview, followed by a business case, a chat with the hiring manager, another excel test, and then a final interview where I didn't get through. It felt a bit redundant and not well-connected, with similar questions asked at different levels and multiple technical tests that seemed to overlap in what they were testing. I also didn't like my last interview because I was cut off before finishing my thoughts several times. I don't think the process is bad overall, but it's pretty long, and some of the repetition could be avoided if interviewers communicated better and tests were combined.
- Why do you want to work at Voodoo specifically?
Financial Controller
Submitted an online application. Had an HR interview (30min). Took Maki tests (English & Maths). Completed a Voodoo strategy case study & Financial Excel case study (2/3h). Had a Team / Fit interview with two members (45min). Interviewed with the Head of Financial Controlling (45min). Spoke with the Head of Accounting (30min). Interviewed with the CEO (15min). Underwent a reference check. Found it a bit too long, but it did help me understand the job better.
- Regarding a company acquisition, how would you outline the payroll implications to the CEO?
- Could you detail the process for calculating Free Cash Flow to the Firm? And how would you approach valuing Voodoo?
- Please present Voodoo's P&L using current figures, given no prior data.
