So I had an initial interview with the assistant manager, and then after that, I had a follow-up with the general manager. They told me to dress business casual. They only asked me a few questions about my experience and availability.

They asked about my background, but I barely got to introduce myself before they ended the interview. It turns out they weren't expecting me to only be available for a summer temp job, which wasn't clear on my application. They needed someone for a 3-month training period, and I was leaving for college in 3 months.

I applied online for 8 Starbucks positions, and since I didn't hear back, I called the store. The customer service rep told me they don't hire at the store level and gave me the Vons corporate number. I left a voicemail, and then Stacey from corporate called me back the next day to set up an interview with the store manager. The interview was probably over 30 minutes long. I was super nervous and didn't do great, thinking I bombed it. The manager said I'd hear from Stacey on Monday or Tuesday if I got a second interview with corporate. On Monday, I called corporate again because I was anxious. A nice girl named Rose called back and said there were no more Starbucks positions, but she could set me up with an interview for a courtesy clerk role with the same manager. I was bummed, but then Stacey called me later that day and invited me for a second interview at Starbucks for the following week. A week later, I went to a different Vons location for the interview in a back office. I arrived early. Stacey interviewed me and basically said I'd be hired because the first manager liked me. She told me I needed to do a drug test and background check, and since I wasn't 18, I needed a guardian's consent. I went back on Wednesday with the signed paper. Rose handled the drug test with a saliva sample and had me fill out paperwork. She gave me a list of things to bring in a week for the background check. A week later, I brought my ID, birth certificate, and my background check was clear. I finished the final paperwork, got a booklet about company policies, and was told to come back for paid orientation. Tomorrow is my first day of training as I wait for my Starbucks to be built.
