First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at VonChurch.
Technical Recruiter
I applied online and then got a phone screen pretty quickly. It was about 30 minutes and then they offered me an in-person interview for the next week. The in-person was with the HR manager and my potential supervisor. I was supposed to meet a third person too, but they were too busy. The first chat was pretty chill, mostly general questions from HR. Then I talked to a supervisor who basically said being a Technical Recruiter is tough and to expect to fail. They asked about how I handle failure and what drives me. One question was to explain VonChurch to them. I heard back a few days later but didn't get an offer.
- Can you describe your approach to recruiting?
- What do you know about VonChurch?
- How do you handle setbacks?

I went through a pretty intense interview process. I initially had a conversation with someone, and then I met with another person for what they called 'VonChurch interview by values.' The questions came at me quickly and felt a bit strange at first, but I eventually got more comfortable, and it turned out to be a really interesting experience. I left feeling a bit spaced out but definitely valued the time and the insight into my thinking. Although I didn't get the job, I feel more prepared for future interviews.
- Tell me about a significant failure you experienced.
- If you had the power to alter an industry, which one would you choose and what would be your reasoning?

Vonchurch seemed like a really cool place to work and the people there seemed nice with a laid-back vibe. This was also reflected in their interview process, which included questions that ranged from riddles to off-the-wall 'would you rather' type questions. What I didn't like was that the person scheduled to interview me was busy, so I ended up speaking with someone else. I felt like they had already decided I wasn't getting the job before the interview was even over.
- For the role-playing portion, I was asked to imagine I was at an airport trying to board a plane and three other people wanted my seat. The question was how I would convince them to give me their seats.
Junior Recruiter
I had an initial phone screen and then got invited in for an interview. I met with one person and then was encouraged to go around and talk to everyone. The interview was fine, but I wasn't really prepared and was asked questions not directly related to the role.
- Tell me about your family traditions and what tradition you would like to create.
- You have 5 minutes to draw pictures in each of these 100 squares. Go!
