The hiring process feels like it's from a different era, with questions that haven't been relevant for years. It starts with a phone call that's kind of an interview. After that, you come in for an in-person interview with a department, but it might not even be the one you applied for. The manager reads questions from a list, the same ones for everyone, regardless of the job. They then try to write down your answers.
- Can you recall an instance of receiving excellent customer service?
- Please provide an example of a time you experienced poor customer service.
- How did that experience affect you emotionally?
Customer Service Representative
Applied online and after about 2 days, I got a phone interview with someone who sounded really excited. I passed that and then had a face-to-face interview. It felt like it went on forever and the questions were super old-fashioned. It would be hard for someone without prior job experience to answer them. For people who interview a lot, the questions were annoying because they didn't really relate to my actual work history.
- Tell me about a time you had a difficult coworker and how you handled it.

I got a phone interview with the HR manager really quickly after I sent my resume, like within an hour. Then, the next week, I had an in-store interview where we talked about what I wanted to make. The week after that, they called me back to check my references. They did extend an offer, but it was actually 25% less than what both managers had earlier indicated would be fine.
- Can you tell me about a time you faced and overcame a challenge?
- What's your approach to handling people who are difficult to deal with?
