First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Voltas.
Hardware Engineer
You'll start with an online test for basic electronics knowledge. After that, there's an interview where we'll chat about ACs and IoT. We'll ask about your knowledge of core electronics stuff and how it's used in the real world. It'll be a deep dive into what you know.
- Could you explain what a MOSFET is and describe its various types?
Area Manager
I was recruited directly from college. The process had 2 online tests, one technical and one general reasoning. The difficulty was average, but the English section felt like it was taken straight from an old CAT paper. After the tests, I had a technical interview, which was immediately followed by an HR interview. The technical interview focused on the basics of RAC, as Voltas Ltd. is an air conditioner manufacturer and they wanted candidates with a solid understanding of the subject. It was a good experience overall and took the entire day. The list of selected candidates was announced a week later.
- Are you willing to relocate to a new city, such as Chennai?
Graduate Engineering Trainee
So it was a campus drive, right? The basic cutoff was 60% throughout. About 150 people applied, and after the company's initial shortlist, about half were eligible for the written test. It was a pretty basic conceptual test, mostly covering thermal topics like HMT, RAC, and Thermo. Only 12 people passed the written test. The next day, we had a PPT with the company officials, followed by a GD on a general topic. It was tough to really stand out in the GD, and those 10 minutes just flew by. Only 4 people made it past the GD and were called for the interview. This interview was a mix of technical and HR, focusing heavily on our concepts and basics in thermal and other related fields.
- Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
- Please describe your project.
- Can you explain your summer internship experience, highlighting what you learned and its relevance to our company?
Senior Assistant Manager
The interview process included 3 rounds. First was an online aptitude test where I needed to score at least 50%. The second round was a technical interview with a team member, discussing my past experience and asking technical questions about air conditioning and thermodynamics. The final round was an HR interview covering general topics like my expectations, salary, and the organization's work culture.
